Letting go

Whether it’s that donut you love every morning or an old pair of jeans you love that has met its maker, at some point we all have to let go. Some things feel like they are a Godsend like, finally letting go of that past due bill you’ve been meaning to pay off. Some things are wayyy more difficult, like a pizza lover giving up bread and dairy. If you are like me, you’re the pizza lover.

I have decided it’s time to take a step in the diet-changing direction. Of course, I’m not thrilled about it and I’ve already decided that this is going to happen VERY slowly. For the past week I have given up that sweet nectar of life some of us like to call Coffee. The reason for this is because I am one of those people who like cream and sugar (I realize some of you are quite upset about this). My thoughts on this are: “If I cut out that cup of coffee every day, that’s less dairy and sugar (and empty carbs) that I’m consuming each day.” That being said… I NEED something to replace this. Since water doesn’t make me want to jump for joy each morning, I have settled on tea. I don’t mind drinking this black and I am able to drink this hot or Iced. There are also different flavors and varieties so I won’t get bored.

After drinking this for a couple days, I have found that It’s not as bad as I anticipated and I still get my caffeine fix. I still think about getting my usual coffee drink and I still contemplate on whether or not to get it, but so far I have been able to resist that temptation. I did find that I drink much less of the tea than I do coffee since I don’t enjoy it quite as much, but I know I am able to water the tea down and use this as a tool to drink more “water” since drinking water is not a strong point of mine. Eventually, I plan to replace almost all of my sugary drinks with unsweetened tea… but that is a blog for another day.
